Jane, Robyn & Myrtle Beckerleg

Jane, Robyn & Myrtle Beckerleg

"This is one of the best decisions we have ever made. From the moment Linda came into our lives she has become a very special “mum” to Myrtle. Linda clearly loves her job, and loves her dogs. She provides not only excellent company and exercise for Myrtle but she has also been doing training with her, which her two mums – Jane and Robyn – sure have appreciated. When Myrtle goes out it’s not just for a little spin down the park she is out for hours and comes home happy and exhausted. Importantly she has learnt great socialisation skills with other dogs.

I happened to be at home last week when Linda arrived. It may not seem possible but Myrtle did a triple somersault with delight and excitement to see her; such is her love for Linda. Many thanks to FETCH for such a fantastic service. We would highly recommend FETCH dog walking to any dog owner!"

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is FETCH different from other Auckland dog walkers?

FETCH has been professionally walking dogs throughout Auckland since 2005 and is one of New Zealand’s most established dog walking companies.

What sets us apart is our commitment to professionalism, safety and education.

  • Established in 2005 with over 20 years of experience.
  • Professional dog walking is our full-time business, not a side job.
  • All handlers receive training through the National Dog Handling Academy (NDHA).
  • Our team either holds or is actively working towards NZQA-recognised dog handling qualifications.
  • Dedicated Operations, Training and Management teams.
  • Structured and supervised group walks.
  • Comprehensive safety and emergency procedures.
  • Fully insured.
  • Thousands of Auckland dogs exercised every year.

We believe dog walking should be treated as a skilled profession and have invested heavily in developing what we believe is one of the most highly trained dog handling teams in New Zealand.

What areas do you cover?

FETCH provides professional dog walking services throughout much of Auckland, including Grey Lynn, Ponsonby, Herne Bay, St Marys Bay, Freemans Bay, Arch Hill, Newton, Eden Terrace, Kingsland, Morningside, Western Springs, Westmere, Point Chevalier, Waterview, Mt Albert, Sandringham, Mt Eden, Balmoral, Epsom, Greenlane, One Tree Hill, Onehunga, Avondale, Blockhouse Bay, New Lynn, Glen Eden, Titirangi, Parnell, Newmarket, Grafton, Remuera, Meadowbank, Orakei, St Johns, Glen Innes, Kohimarama, Mission Bay, St Heliers, Glendowie, Birkenhead, Northcote, Hillcrest, Takapuna and many surrounding suburbs.

How do your pack walks work?

Our trained dog handlers collect your dog from home, transport them to a suitable walking location, supervise a structured one-hour group walk, and then return them home happy, exercised and fulfilled.

When do your walks take place?

Our pack walks operate Monday to Friday.

Morning Session: 8:00 am – 12:00 pm

Afternoon Session: 11:00 am – 4:00 pm

We collect and return your dog while you’re at work, running errands or enjoying your day.

How long will my dog be away from home?

The walk itself lasts approximately one hour. Including collection, travel and drop-off, most dogs are out of the house between 1.5 and 2.5 hours.

Do you offer pick-up and drop-off?

Yes. All FETCH walks include collection from your home and return afterwards. There is no need for you to transport your dog.

Do I need to provide a key?

While not essential, we strongly recommend providing a key or door access code. This allows us easy access to your dog and provides flexibility if your schedule changes.

What happens if it rains?

FETCH walks dogs in all weather conditions. If your dog gets wet or muddy, we will rinse and towel dry them before returning them home. If your dog is nervous around thunder or severe weather, please let us know so we can take appropriate precautions.

What are the requirements for joining a FETCH pack walk?

All dogs must:

  • Be fully vaccinated.
  • Be regularly flea and worm treated.
  • Be friendly and sociable with people and other dogs.
  • Respond to basic commands.
  • Be physically capable of participating in group walks.

Dogs over 12 months of age should be desexed. Entire dogs may be accepted following an individual assessment.

Do you offer an assessment before joining?

Yes. Every dog completes an assessment process before joining a FETCH pack.

This allows us to understand their personality, social skills, recall, confidence levels and suitability for group walks. It also gives owners the opportunity to meet us and ask questions before getting started.

How often can my dog attend?

Dogs can attend anywhere from one to five days per week.

We require a minimum attendance of one walk per week. Regular attendance helps maintain your dog’s relationship with their handler, reinforces positive pack behaviour, ensures familiarity with the other dogs in the group and helps maintain the highest standards of safety and care.

Why don't you offer fortnightly walks?

Dogs benefit from routine, consistency and familiarity.

Long gaps between walks can impact pack relationships, handler familiarity and behavioural consistency. Weekly attendance ensures your dog remains settled, confident and comfortable within their walking group.

Regular attendance also allows us to maintain stable walking groups and provide a safer experience for all dogs in our care.

Are the dogs walked off lead?

Most FETCH dogs enjoy supervised off-lead exercise in approved locations.

Dogs must demonstrate suitable recall, social skills and behaviour before being allowed off lead. Safety always comes first.

What if my dog doesn't have reliable recall?

Not every dog starts with perfect recall.

We assess each dog individually and can use long lines, additional training and gradual progression until we are confident they are ready for greater freedom.

What if my dog is nervous or reactive?

Every dog is assessed individually.

Some nervous dogs thrive in a structured group environment, while others may require additional support before joining a pack. We will always prioritise safety and your dog’s wellbeing and will provide honest recommendations following assessment.

Do you walk puppies?

Yes.

Many puppies benefit greatly from controlled socialisation, exercise and exposure to other dogs. We assess puppies individually and place them into suitable groups based on age, confidence and development.

How much does dog walking cost?

Our pricing varies depending on how many days your dog attends each week.

For the most up-to-date pricing, please visit our Pricing Page or contact our team directly.

We offer flexible options ranging from one day per week through to full-time attendance.

Will my dog walk with the same dogs every week?

Where possible, yes.

We aim to maintain stable, compatible groups so dogs can build confidence, friendships and positive social relationships over time.

Will I receive updates about my dog?

Yes.

Our team regularly provides photos, videos and updates so you can follow your dog’s adventures and see how much fun they’re having while out with their FETCH friends.

Is FarmStay a better alternative to a traditional boarding kennel?

For many dogs, yes.

Traditional boarding kennels typically focus on providing safe accommodation while owners are away. While this suits some dogs, many active, social and people-oriented dogs benefit from a more enriching environment.

FETCH FarmStay was created to provide dogs with a holiday experience rather than simply a place to stay.

Benefits of FarmStay include:

  • Daily supervised exercise and adventures.
  • Large open spaces to explore.
  • Beach and farm experiences.
  • Regular interaction with trained handlers.
  • Socialisation with carefully selected dogs.
  • Structured enrichment and mental stimulation.
  • Purpose-built accommodation.
  • A calm and relaxed rural environment.

Many owners tell us their dogs come home happier, fitter and more relaxed after a FarmStay holiday.

Our goal is to provide a safe, enriching and enjoyable experience that supports your dog’s physical, mental and emotional wellbeing while you’re away.

Why is FETCH FarmStay different from other boarding kennels?

Why is FETCH FarmStay different from other boarding kennels?

FETCH FarmStay offers a unique alternative to traditional dog boarding.

Located on our private 100-acre coastal farm approximately one hour north of Auckland, FarmStay provides dogs with freedom, adventure, socialisation and human interaction in a safe, supervised environment.

Unlike many traditional kennels where dogs spend large portions of the day confined to runs, FarmStay dogs enjoy:

  • Daily supervised pack adventures.
  • Large secure exercise areas.
  • Beach walks and farm exploration.
  • Purpose-built accommodation.
  • Ongoing interaction with trained handlers.
  • Structured routines and enrichment.
  • Small group management and supervision.

Our goal is for dogs to enjoy their holiday as much as their owners enjoy theirs.

What makes FETCH FarmStay unique?

There are many boarding facilities throughout New Zealand, but few combine:

  • Over 20 years of professional dog care experience.
  • A dedicated coastal farm environment.
  • A private 100-acre property.
  • Professional dog handlers.
  • NDHA-trained staff.
  • NZQA-recognised dog handling qualifications.
  • Structured dog management systems.
  • Daily adventure-based enrichment.
  • A strong focus on dog welfare and wellbeing.

Since 2005, FETCH has built its reputation around helping dogs live happier, healthier and more fulfilled lives.

FarmStay is the next evolution of that philosophy, providing dogs with a holiday experience designed around adventure, enrichment, exercise and care.

Why do dogs love FarmStay?

Dogs are naturally social, curious and active animals.

FarmStay provides opportunities to:

  • Explore new environments.
  • Build confidence.
  • Make canine friends.
  • Enjoy off-lead adventures.
  • Experience a variety of sights, smells and activities.
  • Spend time with experienced dog handlers.

For many dogs, FarmStay becomes the highlight of their year and they quickly recognise the FarmStay vehicle when it arrives.

Why do owners choose FarmStay?

Owners choose FarmStay because they want more than basic boarding.

They want:

  • Peace of mind.
  • Professional supervision.
  • Daily exercise.
  • Individualised care.
  • Regular updates.
  • Experienced dog professionals.
  • A safe and enriching environment.

Many of our clients tell us they enjoy their holidays more knowing their dog is also having a great time.

What is FarmStay?

FarmStay is FETCH’s premium overnight boarding service.

Dogs stay with our trained team on our private coastal farm while enjoying daily exercise, socialisation, enrichment and supervision.

Many dogs return home physically tired, mentally fulfilled and excited to come back for their next stay.

How large is the FarmStay property?

FarmStay is located on our private coastal farm of approximately 100 acres, giving dogs access to extensive open spaces, walking tracks and natural environments.

The property has been specifically selected to provide a unique experience that simply cannot be replicated in a traditional urban boarding facility.

Where is FarmStay located?

FarmStay is located on our private coastal farm approximately one hour north of Auckland.

The property features rolling farmland, open spaces and access to a beautiful beach environment, providing a truly unique holiday experience for dogs.

For security and privacy reasons, visits are by appointment only.
